Lisa F.

lisa ferretti_CB

SPECIALTIES
Lisa especially enjoys helping people with chronic neck pain, headaches, and jaw tension. She periodically offers a complimentary workshop at Healthworks in self-massage for the jaw. Her style is best described as integrative massage, drawing from over 25 years of experience and continuing education. For instance, although she no longer practices shiatsu, a personalized session may include shiatsu points and stretches. In addition to health clubs, Lisa has provided massage at spas, chiropractic offices, sporting events, and special occasions.

THERAPIST PHILOSOPHY
What do you need right now, today? Each session with Lisa is tailored to what will best serve you and your body at that particular time, whether it’s stress management, relief from pain and tension, restoring range of motion, preventing or reducing a headache, boosting your immune system, or a combination of any of these. She will usually suggest a stretch or activity to enhance the effects of the massage and help you help yourself until your next appointment.

PERSONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
For several months following the events of Sept. 11, 2001, Lisa had the honor of providing massage therapy and informal grief counseling to recovery workers at Ground Zero. Her main volunteer commitment is now at the Children’s Room, a center for grieving families, as a support group facilitator. Lisa has sung with various musical organizations, including an early music ensemble that toured Italy, a barbershop quartet, and a world music group in which she also danced and played flute and percussion. She currently sings in a chorus that focuses on Italian repertoire.

Cecilia H.

CB Spa Cecilia Hernandez 3.16

SPECIALTIES
Cecilia studied massage therapy at Lincoln Technical Institute, which provided her with the skills and knowledge to be a well rounded massage therapist. She has training in Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports massage, trigger point, hot stone and pre-natal.

THERAPIST PHILOSPHY
Cecilia believes that massage not only helps the body but also the mind and spirit. She tailors the massage treatment to each individual per visit, because not every day is the same. Our daily lives can consume us, therefore massage is a great way to escape the everyday stressors, regenerate the body by relieving the tension and tightness, and at the end just feeling better. Massage shouldn’t be treated as a luxury but instead as a way of healthy living.

PERSONAL ACCOMPLISMENTS
Discovering massage therapy and understanding what it can truely do for an indiviual is one of her greatest accomplishments. She loves to say “I love what I do and I truely enjoy it.” Cecilia also enjoys running, working out, spending time with family, and traveling. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese (one of her other personal accomplishments).

Mandy H.

Mandy

SPECIALTIES
Mandy is trained in Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point release, and sports massage; she is also certified in prenatal massage. Mandy is adept at tailoring sessions to relieve clients’ stress areas and injuries, ensuring that compensation patterns are also addressed for maximum efficacy. Though she always incorporates some relaxation techniques, Mandy is skilled at tracking down points of tension—often in areas that clients do not expect—and working deeper into the tissue to coax it into releasing.

THERAPIST PHILOSPHY
Clients often turn to massage when other forms of healthcare have fallen short, and Mandy works hard to close that gap as much as possible—not just physically, but emotionally. She emphasizes learning to recognize patterns in daily life that lead to chronic pain, and how different forms of self-care can help to mitigate these issues.

PERSONAL ACCOMPLISMENTS
Mandy has a bachelor’s degree in English from Northeastern University and is a skilled writer and editor when not in the massage rooms. She enjoys drawing and baking in her spare time. Mandy also works at Harvard Business School, which allows her to continually polish a wide variety of professional skills and to take courses at the Harvard Extension School.
