Youth Fitness Instructor

Healthworks at Codman, a non-profit health and fitness center for women and children in Dorchester, is searching for a Youth Fitness Instructor to lead children's physical activity classes on a part-time basis.

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 4:30pm to 7:30 pm

Description of the Position: As a Youth Fitness Instructor, you will work closely with children 5 to 12 years of age who are often referred by their physicians to participate in physical activity to treat obesity. Classes provided should not only be fun and dynamic, but also provide an opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in youths' lives by teaching them about health and the importance of physical activity.

Minimum Requirements:
The ideal Youth Fitness Instructor loves children, is fun, energetic, engaging, flexible, creative, and patient. 1+ years experience teaching physical education or certification in exercise and fitness is required, unless qualification can be demonstrated to the Director without said background. Additional experience with children and curriculum development is also beneficial for the position. Residency in, or easy access to Dorchester is preferred, but not required.

Compensation: This part-time position receives an hourly wage. Women are eligible for a free Healthworks Fitness Centers for Women membership in addition to a free Healthworks at Codman membership.

Healthworks at Codman is a non-profit fitness center in Codman Square, Dorchester and provides opportunities for members to participate in regular, low-cost fitness programs. Targeting women and children, Healthworks at Codman seeks to improve the health and fitness level of Dorchester residents in a safe, positive, and encouraging environment.

Cafe Staff
Position Overview:
The Cafe Staff Member is to provide creative, fresh, healthy food products within a team environment.  The staff is responsible for maintaining proper levels of cleanliness and sanitation as well as maintaining Healthworks company standards.

Requirements:
Proficient in English in both verbal and written communication.
Experienced and knowledgeable in handling of perishable food products.
Fully understands proper sanitation guidelines for both food products and equipment with respect to preparation, receiving, and storage.

Ability:
Available to work hours that meet the needs of the club (Tuesday-Thursday, 12:30-8pm and Friday 12:30-7pm)
Able to multitask and follow up in a fast-paced environment.
Food preparation a must.

Group Fitness Director

Massage Therapists

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Massage Therapists play an integral role in the wellness experience provided at Healthworks. The primary responsibilities of a Healthworks Spa Professional are to (1) provide outstanding spa experiences and customer service to all clients, (2) to have a deep commitment to the health and wellbeing of all clients and (3) to remain committed to the overall financial goals of the spa department.

In addition to the primary role and responsibilities described within, each Massage Therapist plays a vital role in the success of the department, club and company. All members of the Massage Team always represent the company while they are in the clubs and must maintain a professional manner in dealing with fellow staff and members. They must display a helpful attitude, assist other departments when necessary and market their services to build their client base. All members of the Massage Team are encouraged to communicate ideas on best practices to their supervisor as well as other departments.

REPORTING TO: Lead Massage Therapist, General Manager and Spa Director

JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- High School equivalent or higher education
- Current National or Massachusetts State license to practice Massage Therapy with no citations, inquiries or judgments against. All Massage Therapists are responsible for maintaining current certifications throughout employment.

EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of one year experience performing Massage Therapy after license to practice issued.

KNOWLEDGE
- Thorough knowledge of Massage Therapy practices
- In-depth knowledge of all Healthworks spa offerings as well as basic knowledge of other Healthworks programs and offerings
- Must learn and remain proficient in all Healthworks booking and communication systems
- Continually participate in ongoing educational and training opportunities

REQUIREMENTS
- Able to work the hours the correspond to the needs of the club
- Remain on site during all scheduled shifts
- Follow treatment protocol as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures and on the employee website
- Build and maintain a regular and consistent client base with a retention rate of at least 40%
- Perform member outreach on any shift with at least two unscheduled hours
- Able to attend special events and assist with departmental projects
- Keep treatment rooms and storage areas neat, clean and in accordance with State Board Standards
