About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of a comprehensive diagnostic system that has been practiced in China for more than 2,000 years. In 1997, the National Institute of Health acknowledged acupuncture to be a safe and effective treatment for many conditions including chronic pain, fatigue, immune system enhancement and stress reduction. Acupuncture and adjunctive therapies treat the patient as a whole and address the underlying cause of disease. Health is achieved and balance is maintained by regulating the flow of qi (chi) along pathways known as meridians.

What To Expect

During your initial consultation, your acupuncturist will spend over an hour reviewing your health history, chief complaint and any other factors that may impact your health. The practitioner will want to obtain a complete picture of your health to design a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses all of your health needs. Most patients report feeling a sensation of warmth, tingling or pressure during the insertion of the needle with minimal or no pain. Some people are energized by the treatment, while others feel relaxed.   Everyone's experience is unique.
